1. Holy hell, Wilkin Ramirez in CF!
2. Why the hell is Mauer playing AGAIN and catching no less. Can't this manager see that he needs a day off??????

Wilkin Ramirez in CF!

Well, he did play CF for the Holiday Inn Express company softball team one year.

Yeah, he's better than an emergency CF. A total of about a half-season experience in his 9 years.

Mauer will get days off soon enough.

Apparently Mauer has an OBP in the high .400s against Verlander, so maybe this gets him going again.

Hard to believe I said that facing Verlander would get someone going, but hey let's see if it works.

True, but (not to put a curse on anything) Vanimal has had first inning jitters before. Last game, we noted that he delayed it to the second inning jitters; same diff. He's shown the ability to settle down and make it through 6 innings, so we can hope he holds to form here and gives his team a chance.

It's bad enough to fall... But falling into stuff always make it worse... A bike... a blender... It's never good.

The flash bang went off at 1:30... He was out of the house by 2:00. It seems he didn't like the flash bang.

His girlfriend was breaking up with him... So he broke into her house around 10AM sunday morning when she wasn't home... He called her on her cell phone... Told her that he was going to destroy her house and that he won't be taken alive.

He managed to set some fires but he wasn't very good at the Arson thing cuz the firefighters were able to put out all the fires he set around the house with only 1,000 bucks damage after 3 hours of burning wild in the house. I can't figure that one out.

He was a state champion skeet shooter and he did have a gun... But basically... It was a lame attempt at attention.

I'm sure the girlfriend was impressed and is re thinking her decision to break up with this talented arsonist.

Hes getting mentally evaluated and facing 3 fairly serious charges.

OK, gotta go grab dinner. Let me know if the game turns ugly or anything.

Ashburyjohn... What a dude... Going outside to grab his own dinner... Probably Squirrel or something.

Not game related, but, any diehards stay up to the end of the 19 inning A's/Angels game?

Nothing like 4 AB's against Verlander to kill your .400 season.

I would have if I knew it was gonna go 19... Since I didn't know... I didn't

Meanwhile on the bench, Hicksie quietly bides his time, plotting to slingshot past them in batting average, RBI, and hugs from Prince Fielder...

Does getting up in time to inadvertently see the end count?

There wasn't even anybody there to start the game.

I'm actually holding out hope that Swarzak can put together a useful season. Esco and Ramirez look like small sample long shots, fun while they last, etc. Whatever they do above replacement level the rest of the way is a bonus.

On the other hand, S^3 disclaimer, but Swarzak looks like he's in danger of maybe developing into a reliable reliever. Not where you want your high picks to end up, but better than nothing.

Yeah, 1-4 with 2 K's isn't exactly snapping a cold streak. It's Verlander, but that's of marginal comfort when Mauer's ability as a hitter is supposed to rival the ability of Verlander as a pitcher.

Possible Strib column: Mauer's Slump Continues; Bruno on Thin Ice?

Nice job, Bullpen. If we need any barn doors locked, after the starter has let all the horses out, we know where to turn.
