Let's look on the bright side of things. The White Sux are doing as badly as the Twins with a payroll that is almost $50 million higher than the Twins and the Angels are even worse with a lineup that has Pujols, Trout, Hamilton, and Weaver with a payroll of $65+ million more.

So the Mets sweep? What has money got to do with it?

Shine on you crazy Diamond, and get us a W. Let's go back to that thing where we were losing the first game of the series and winning the last two. I liked that better.

Ten games in the offense has been poor--the defense poor and the pitching more often poor than good. The Twins are lucky they have won four games. It will get better, but the club may be out of it before it does.

I'm hoping for a strong six innings from Diamond. I hope he's ready for both the Mets and the elements.

Diamond gave up 4 runs in 5 innings in his last rehab start in Ft. Meyers, but I am hoping that this is because he was experimenting a lot and getting kinks worked out.

I hear where you're coming from. Still, just because they have more pain than we do, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.:)

I think the hope was that his rough start wasn't because he hadn't fully recovered or gotten back in synch from his injury.

Good to have Diamond back, even if it will be hard to walk the low-K, sub 4 era tightrope again. Good start on that today even with the solo moon shot.

No worries, even after today the starters will still hold a 5-ish inning per game vs 4 IP pergame edge over the pen in IP. > 50% is good, right?

Well, many of us were wondering how long it would take for this team to start playing unwatchable baseball.

I guess we're at that point.

Baby steps - it's all relative, and the first week was pretty good.

Maybe next year we'll get two good weeks before they fall apart.

The year after that, three...

All joking aside, this is another one that belongs on the heads of the batters.

One bad inning from Diamond aside, the pitching has done the job. Neither Diamond nor the bullpen lost this.

What's the penalty for that?

Gardy, snapping at a reporter in PG about moving Hicksie down in the order:

"We'll let you know when we're going to do that so you don't have to keep asking every day".

At least he managed to avoid dropping the F bomb between "every" and "day".

Did someone say joke?

Kid is being interviewed by the divorce court judge. "Do you want to live with your mommy?" "No, she hits me every day." The judge is taken aback. "Oh my. Do you want to live with your daddy?" "No, he hits me every day too." "Wow. Then, who do you want to live with?" "I want to live with the Minnesota Twins starting lineup. They don't hit anybody."
I respectfully disagree. I think you may have been trying to be humorous, but this is nothing to joke about.

Parmelee's defense continues to be a pleasant surprise.

People once described Parm's RF defense as Delmonesque, I think he's on the brink of easily surpassing the Kubelesque standard. That, how Diamond did and Morneau's first dinger were the only things remotely interesting today. I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be a long, hard slog to make all my game commitments this year .

+1 on all counts. And Parm has had few enough reps in right, especially in the last 3 years and in Target Field, that his defense there should have more room for improvement than most guys of his age and experience level.

Judgement call, as I was recycling a very old sports joke, but I took it down shortly after you commented. If it hurt your eyes so much, you'd probably edit or remove your own response now.

I got a real good laugh out of it, so did my father when I told it to him. We don't need to take ourselves so ****ing seriously every minute of every day.

I don't think you should have deleted your post.
