Great post. I feel a kinship with Cubs fans as well.

It maybe be a badge of loyalty but I still feels sorry for anyone wearing yankees logos this year. Bottom line everyones luck runs out and how long it runs out for is an organization thing

I am a fan but sure am disappointed by Twins moves this year. With the payroll flexibility i thought they could piece together a team that would be close to 500 and outside chance of catching wild card spot. I could see this plan if we had our prospects close to ready to make it to major league but for most were probably 2 years away before we have the prospects ready to play at major league level. Older i get less patience i have for building a team that takes 5 to 6 years if everything works out like planned. I love to watch baseball but Twins may test my love to watch baseball. I hope i am wrong but i just feel were heading for 100 plus loss season and very few young players that i can watch and think things are going to get better. Am i only one thats thinking this and how can Twins organization look reporters and fans in eye keep selling us they are going to be incontention this year thats what makes me mad as hell.

Great post! I too am a "twins fan" and I will suffer through this year. Even when they are 20 games out, I will still get peeved when they can't get a runner in from 3rd base with less than 2 outs, still get frustrated when they play stupid, still get irritated when Joe hits into another double play, but I will always, always root for them!

Great blog, I too can't wait for the season to start, I can't wait to get back to TF and I'm not even a masochist.

My, isn't that a nice story

I am glad to see the posting guidelines being put to good use, my brother.

Apart from that, I mostly echo ND-Fan's sentiments. I'm totally on board with the offseason trades that temporarily weaken the team, but am disappointed that this wasn't done hand-in-hand with some short-term moves to serve as a bridge to 2015 and beyond. As I understand the marketing of how Target Field came to be, there is a moral commitment to spend like a major league team if it can help put a better product on the field, and it seems to me $20M was left on the table, or in ownership's pockets more like, all while they told us that money is not the constraining factor. More money could have obtained the services for two years of a pitcher with a better track record than Correia for example. I fear that there is a conscious calculation that the team would rather have one more kick-ass draft pick in June '14 than to strive for a few more wins to come closer to .500 in '13; it's not exactly throwing games, but close enough that I don't like the implication that you can't succeed long-term without shenanigans.

Nice post - I too will hope to catch a Twins game in Wash DC this June with my dad. Well, the expectations for this season can't be much lower so the only way to go is up! Life is too short to waste a season so I will have to take joy in the small wins, the development of the young guys and maybe the last season to enjoy watching Morneau and maybe Willingham playing for us. Hopefully a player or two will come out of nowhere like Diamond last year to have an impressive season.

This afternoon my brother started texting me incessantly telling me I had to read this blog post, he wouldn't tell me why, just that I HAD to read it. As I read it I liked it a lot and I agreed with it all but couldn't figure out why my brother had been so persistent about this particular article, then I figured it out! I work at a brunch restaurant in Chicago that had to close because of the pipes, I am a HUGE twins fan, and I was the crazy girl that berated you about your fuzzy TWINS attire! It is indeed going to be a rough season, but I am so glad that we could share this encounter on that crazy busy saturday in the middle of Chicago and agree on one thing, "Our team will always be our team, win or lose." GO TWINKIES and beautifully written article, I couldn't agree with you more. P.S. I am so sorry I had to kick you out of the restaurant that saturday, but pipes are fixed! You and your wife should come back to Chicago and we can all eat some bacon and trash talk the White Sox.

Mil Gracias, for the comments my brothers.

No question about it, there's plenty that will be frustrating throughout the year (I'm already practicing my weary head shake at swinging strike threes on sliders low and away). But I'm glad that there are people who are as irrationally fanatic as I am to while away the summer postulating about the future (even if we have long been promised that the future is now).

Hicks hit 3 home runs today, Morneau looks to be healthy again, Mauer is hitting well. I think we will score more runs than last year. The middle infield is looking solid, Plouffe is hitting, damn. The pitching still sucks. One more good pitcher and we're a threat to win the division. I was hoping that would be Gibson, but he has a long ways to go. Still, the Twins will be fun to watch, even when they lose.

I applaud your unbridled optimism, your MI outlook takes that word to new levels.

That is awesome. I love the internet. Welcome to Twins Daily.
