Some of these posts are hilarious. But I do feel bad for Blackburn. He seemed to be doing well in spring training then the wheels came off the hot dog. I think that he has been trying his best and feels terrible that he is letting the team down. I remember when Blackburn was a valuable contributor, and I keep hoping that he will find his groove. That said, I agree with those who feel that he needs to be replaced in the rotation.

Ganging up and piling on.
Trying to be clever and funny and being neither.
Saying someone is worse than pandemic diseases or despicable pedophiles because he hasn't performed as well as you'd like at a game.

Did I do that right?

I agree that references to aids and Sandusky go too far, but when you make $4.75M and pitch the way he has, there's nothing wrong with letting the fans vent their frustration with some heckling. That goes with the territory of being a big-leaguer.

---Fully agree that the disease and Sandusky references are over the line. Way over the line.

But for those like me who went the silly route (and admittedly maybe swung and missed on being funny), I don't think it's "kicking him when he's down." It's harmless fan venting.

Nick Blackburn is a grown-ass man. I seriously doubt anyone here is being harder on him that he's being on himself.

I actually do feel bad for the guy. They showed him in the dugout after one of his recent shellings, and his pained look of frustration and hopelessness said it all about what he thinks about he's doing. Hopefully some time in the bullpen or Rochester can get him pointed in the right direction again.

I didn't look back at yours, but many were silly and light-hearted. My post probably wasn't directed at you. There's having fun and there's being absolutely awful. Those aren't that close together to me. I'd be disgusted with myself if I hadn't reacted to what I read. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I had actually written some of those things.

I have the entirety of BYTO stored locally. It will be put up as a viewable archive in the future when I don't have a billion other thins to do.
