Coco reverted to Covelli? Cool. Let's see whether Span will revert to Keiunta :)

Where is Revere. The guy is off the chain.

Does Mauer have a high rate of GIDPs this year, or does it just seem that way?

Denard Span is one of the worst baserunners I've ever seen.

We saw a bit there why he has so much trouble getting picked off, but that must be the third or fourth time I've seen him run out of the baseline into center field on a double play ball. Is it too much to ask to slide into the bag and try to break it up?

Maybe he has been instructed to play it safe to avoid another concussion?

I've never seen Morneau do that, and he's a much bigger concussion risk than Span.

He must be approaching 10 GIDPs so far this year which is a ridiculously high rate.

It does appear from the following link that Mauer may be leading the league in GIDPs -- http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/GIDP_leagues.shtml

Incoming picker of nits....

It would be handy if the start time was included in either the thread title or with the lineups.

Carry on.

Jason Marquis is officially a free agent.

Marquis cleared release waivers on Monday after being designated for assignment by the Twins last week. He posted a brutal 8.47 ERA in seven starts with the Twins but should be able to find an opening somewhere.

I wish him all the best, but also wish that Twins had not blown $3 million on a poor wager.

A HR from Mauer right now would tie the game and erase the bad taste from his GIDP. Please, just one HR Joe.

OK, Josh, you are due!

Nice hit Josh. Now if Justin can hit it deep, we tie the game with a SF, or if he can hit it out, then we get a 2 run lead. Go Twins!

OK, we will take the SF. Now we need to DOOM the A's. Go Twins!

Check out the stats on Ryan Cook's stats out of the A's bullpen--21 games, 23 IP, 4 hits (.056 BA), no runs, and 0.70 WHIP.

Yikes.

You want to know why Dick? 25 plate appearances, that's why lefties have "done so much better" than righties have.

Another solid performance by Diamond. He is a bright spot.

For those who are watching the game. What is on the left side of Coco Crisp's Neck? Is it a tattoo of sniper rifle scope with a silver stud piercing in the middle of the scope? If it is, I have never seen that before... not that I am against it, but this is a first.

I would love to hear Gardenhire's explanation for why Gray was pitching the 8th inning of a tie game.

I got a screenshot of it here (http://tenthinningstretch.blogspot.com/2012/05/coco-got-something-crispy-on-his-neck.html)

Looks like a crude tattoo of a target with crosshair and a piercing thing in the bullseye

Which seems only fair considering the bruised nut of the Twins.

"Cause that's the way we do it around here, and will always do it."

Notice the jackass did today (walk Reddick) what he should have done yesterday (walk Cabrera). Quite the learning curve. And, what's with Lexi and all the recent errors?

"The book" says never to intentionally walk the lead run. Also, there were two out when they passed Reddick to pitch to a far inferior hitter (and RH hitter) in Gomes. Capps would have had to get both Fielder and Boesch to secure the save, both of whom are LH hitters. Cabrera is a great hitter, but the Twins had done a good job with him his last three ABs.

I know I shouldn't criticize Gardy, because for all his faults, he's still a much better manager than I could ever be. But some of his decisions do make me scratch my head.

Thanks Thrylos. I guess I was right. I wonder what it represents? Does Crisp have a fetish that dictates that he wants to be shot through the neck by a hit man? I guess The evolution of physical self expression still has the wind blowing into its sail. I suppose it is better than getting a tribal tattoo or plugs inserted into one's ear lobes.

I am generally quite pleased with Diamond so far. After giving up two early solo homeruns, he could have imploded but wound up pitching into the 7th inning and giving up only 3 runs. Those are the kinds of outings we need. Keep it up.

Dozier & Hammer have been slumping, they need to get it going again and the SP has been much better of late.
