I'm not a huge believer in Plouffe either, so if he has value I say we should send him out. His D is OK, his bat is blah, and we have A G...

Alex Meyer's Time is Here

On Wednesday of this past week, Twins pitching prospect Alex Meyer dismantled the Rays’ Triple-A affiliate Durham Bulls, striking out eight over six innings of work while not allowing either a walk or a run.

With Phil Hughes apparently sidelined for some time after absorbing an Adam Dunn projectile missile in combination with the inconsistent performance from the starting five that now consists of non-prospect arms, it is hard not to ask “When is it Meyer’s time?”

The No Juice Podcast, Episode #15: Big Announcement

On this week's episode of the No Juice Podcast, Dan Anderson and Parker Hageman begin with some big news. Like, really big.

Twins Minor League Report (7/27): Stephen Gonsalves Debuts In Mwl

The Minnesota Twins were able to avoid the brutal 4-game sweep at home courtesy of their fellow AL Central bottom dwellers, the Chicago White Sox, after a Sam Fuld single in the seventh inning gave them just enough of a cushion for the eventual 4-3 victory. Glen Perkins made it interesting in the ninth, but struck out two to pick up his 25th save of the year.

In the minors, a grand slam brought one affiliate a victory, another went into extra innings, and a top pitching prospect made his Midwest League debut.

Monday Morning Madness: July 28, 2014

Who won the most recent game? Those of us with a healthy recency bias are pretty high on the Twins right now. Everyone else? Not so much.

Logan Darnell...sort of
Congratulations to Darnell for making his first MLB start on Saturday. Darnell, Yohan Pino and Kris Johnson have all deserved their starts. That said, can we please have Trevor May and Alex Meyer now?

The Twins game was a trip yesterday. Not only did the Twins and Anthony Swarzak grab an unanticipated win from Cleveland, but I have several fans stop me at Target Field and tell me how excited they were about the crawl. It was awesome. I told them to get their tickets early. That turned out to be even better advice when I started seeing posters for the Touch ‘Em All Pub Crawl sponsored by Proximo Spirits at Mason’s.

Twins Minor League Report (July 26): Pitching Shutouts

Minnesota Twins Minor League Report for July 26, 2014. The Twins had yet another rough one with the White Sox. Three Twins pitching prospects had impressive, shutout performances. There was a walk-off win for one of the affiliates, and another needed 11 innings to win.

The Twins Are Stuck In Their Comfort Zone

After giving up four runs in a brutal relief outing on Tuesday night, Matt Guerrier was designated for assignment on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of fellow failed reclamation projects Jason Bartlett and Jason Kubel.

The Twins raised some eyebrows during the offseason when they brought back the three former fixtures on minor-league deals. It was hard to find fault with those moves at the time, as they were non-guaranteed contracts that inherently carried no risk.

The No Juice Podcast, Episode #14: Trade Deadline

On this week’s episode of the No Juice Podcast, Major League Baseball’s trade deadline swiftly approaching, Dan Anderson and Parker Hageman discuss where the Minnesota Twins stand after the All-Star Break. Josh Willingham, Kevin Correia and Kurt Suzuki? Sell ‘em or sell ‘em all?

Twins Minor League Report (7/23): Shut out of Majors, Meyer Impresses

What an interesting day in Twins Territory!

It was announced this afternoon that the Twins were awarded the 4th pick in Comp Round B of the 2015 MLB Draft. (This is fantastic news... especially for me!) Adding a pick like this will give the Twins around $800,000 extra in their draft pool.

Shortly after that, the Twins completed an Anthony Swarzak-led victory. And after that, Matt Guerrier was designated for assignment.
