• Twins vs. Reds, 06/23/2012, 3:10pm

Powered last night by a hit attack from Ben Revere and Ryan Doumit, the Twins rallied and defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-4. Blackburn pitched a typical 5IP, 4ER stat line but this time, it was enough for the Twins to come out on top. In today's game, Brian Duensing gets a spot start against the Reds' Johnny Cueto. Will the Reds stack the lineup with right-handers against Duensing? After last night's 4-for-4 effort by Doumit and Revere, who will step forward for the Twins' offense today?

As always, we'll be discussing the game as it develops in our Twins Daily game thread!

Not shocking that Duensing struggled quite a bit the 2nd time through the lineup, good news is they don't have any illusions and can now put him back into the pen where he is a nice asset.

So Duensing, who struggles against RH hitters, is approaching his pitch limit, and almost surely won't finish the inning no matter what. WTF do you let him face Rolen in a 2-0 game? Sometimes one wonders if Gardy is even paying attention any more.

Been listening on the radio while I cleaned the cars. Sounds like this game has been chock full of Twins Baseball™.

RP: what's up with the post style? All posts are partially hidden with little toggle bars to space up/down and left/right so you can read the whole thing? Is this by design? Or some setting I can change? It's virtually impossible to read this thread as is.

Pitching around Votto is not a bad play...
Pitching around a lefty, in a lefty on lefty matchup to lead off an inning? I don't think so. He was just nibbling way too much.

What browser and version are you using? I know there's a problem with Internet Explorer 7. Is that what you're using?

Votto is not simply just another lefty, Votto is quite possibly the best hitter in the game currently and has a great eye/will not make a mistake. Many of those pitches were only missing by a tiny bit. Votto did what he did best: He took what the pitcher gave him and found a way to have a productive at bat.

Using IE, don't know what version. Never had this problem until today.

Down 4-0, 2 runners on 2 outs and you let your RELIEF pitcher (who isn't even that great of a pitcher) hit.

I like Gardy, but give me a break, its like he is content to just lose this one 6-0 as long as the precious bullpen isn't stretched to much.

Possibly Gardenhire was trying to preserve the bullpen.

Chief, your new avatar is awesome.

I sure would like to see the Twins score at least a few runs today. And Plouffe needs to stop striking out so much.

IE7 is an awful browser. One of the worst created in modern times. It renders pages incorrectly and is full of security flaws. Get rid of it.

Aint that the truth, although with Gardy, you never know, the paid talking heads were making it sound like this isn't a one game experiment. "Paging Nick Nelson!"
